Here at Northwest Lifestyle Medicine, Dr. Marc Braman provides comprehensive, whole person, lifestyle medicine based health care — the kind of care we would want if we were the patient — to patients in and around Salem, Oregon. We offer our ideal approach for a wide variety of medical conditions, including weight loss, diabetes, arthritis, high blood pressure, heart disease, sleep disorders, depression and more. We believe that patients should be at the center of their health care. We are professional advisors. We put all options on the table with their pros and cons, and we will tell you what we would do that we think is best. Then we work with you on what you decide to do in managing your health.
Our “Comprehensive” and “Whole Person” approach is most easily understood through our illustrations below. The science shows that up to 90% of our problems are caused by lifestyle. Typical medicine today does pills and procedures for symptoms and consequences while doing little to nothing to address the cause. “Lifestyle medicine” is about “treating the cause” as primary or foundational treatment. But it doesn’t stop there. We want ALL options on the table — thus, “comprehensive”. From more “natural” therapies with reasonable scientific support to the latest surgical procedure or immunotherapy, we believe in the full scope of options. The current conventional medical paradigm does mostly expensive and problematic pills and procedures for symptoms and consequences, while ignoring or only giving minimal lip service to lifestyle medicine and more natural options. Non-conventional healthcare paradigms are often very weak on the science and send patients off on “natural” bunny trails that don’t really work. What makes Dr. Braman a step above most other doctors is his willingness to listen to me and take my remarks to devise strategies that are in my best interests, not whatever is considered a standard best practice requirement.
